Dark Nursery Rhymes: Pussycat Pussycat

"Pussycat, Pussycat! Where have you been?"

"I've been to London to see the queen!"

"Pussycat, Pussycat! What did you there?"

"I frightened a little mouse under her chair! MEOW!!"

This is one of two Dark Nursery Rhyme posters I have created for my final major project at college. I intentionally excluded the meow part of the nursery rhyme as I believed it would lighten up the rhyme itself which is the opposite effect that I wish to achieve, so it had to go.

The cat in the image is based on one of my own cats, I removed the main tabby markings leaving only the distinct M and the "eye glasses" on the face.

This is a Traditional poster (the media used within the piece are: Copic Ciao Markers, Watercolours and Copic Fineliners ) with a Digital tune up (the text and darkening of the images.) using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.

(That white line came from Illustrator...)
